Words within Words

What is  a Word within a Word?

Often used in word games to see how many words you can find within a single word.

A simple example being ALPINE

Strictly speaking contains just three words:  ALP  PIN and PINE
although some Scrabble fans may find more unlikely words.

Some people take this to the extreme and make ANAGRAMS from the word e.g. for ALPINE we have found 27 anagrams (see below) but these are not true Words within Words

Ted Clarke used to make his own Words within Words:

e.g.   Chetongueek   = Che (tongue) eek  =  Tongue in Cheek !!
